The Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment was formed in 1919 on the renaming of the Bedfordshire Regiment which was formed in 1881. In 1959 the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment amalgamated with the Essex Regiment to form the 3rd East Anglian Regiment. In 1964 this became part of the Royal Anglian Regiment which is the current regiment of the British Army.
