The Devonshire and Dorset Regiment was formed in 1958 on the amalgamation of the Devonshire Regiment and the Dorset Regiment. In 2006 the Devonshire and Dorset Regiment became the Devonshire and Dorset Light Infantry and in 2007 the regiment became part of The Rifles, which is the current regiment.
