The Dorset Regiment was formed in 1881. In 1958 the Dorset Regiment amalgamated with the Devonshire Regiment to form the Devonshire and Dorset Regiment. In 2005 the regiment was renamed the Devonshire and Dorset Light Infantry. In 2007 the regiment became part of The Rifles, which is the current regiment.
