The Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry was formed in 1881. In 1959 the DCLI amalgamated with the Somerset Light Infantry to form the Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry. In 1968 the Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry became part of the Light Infantry. In 2007 the Light Infantry became part of The Rifles, which is the current regiment.
