The Highland Light Infantry was formed in 1881. In 1959 the regiment became part of the Royal Highland Fusiliers (Princess Margaret’s Own Glasgow and Ayrshire Regiment), together with the Royal Scots Fusiliers. In 2006 the Royal Highland Fusiliers became the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
