King's Own Royal Regiment
The King's Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster) was formed in 1881 but can trace its origins back to 1680. In 1959 the King's Own Royal Regiment and the Border Regiment were amalgamated to form the King's Own Royal Border Regiment. This was amalgamated with the King's Regiment and the Queen's Lancashire Regiment in 2006 to form the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment (King's, Lancashire and Border), which is the current regiment of the British Army.
