The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders were formed in 1881. In 1961 the regiment was amalgamated with the Seaforth Highlanders to form the Queen’s Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons). In 1994 the title of the regiment was changed to The Highlanders on amalgamation with the Gordon Highlanders. In 2006 The Highlanders became the 4th Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
