The Queen’s Own Royal West Kent regiment was formed in 1881. In 1961 the regiment was amalgamated with the Buffs to form the Queen’s Own Buffs. In 1966 the Queen’s Own Buffs were amalgamated into The Queen’s Regiment and in 1992 The Queen’s Regiment was amalgamated with the Royal Hampshire regiment to form The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, which is the current regiment of the British Army.
