The Rifle Brigade could trace its origins back to the Rifle Corps which was formed in 1800. It was subsequently renamed as the 95th (Rifle) Regiment in 1802, the Rifle Brigade in 1816, Prince Consort's Own Rifle Brigade in 1862, and the Rifle Brigade (Prince Consort's Own) in 1920. In 1958 it became the 3rd Green Jackets (RB) and in 1966 was amalgamated into the Royal Green Jackets.
