The Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment) was formed in 1881. In 1920 the name of the regiment was changed to Royal Scots (Royal Regiment). Since amalgamation in 2006 the Royal Scots has formed part of the 1st Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
