The Royal Ulster Rifles came into being on the renaming of the Royal Irish Rifles in 1921. In 1968 the Royal Ulster Rifles were amalgamated with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers and the Royal Irish Fusiliers to form the Royal Irish Rangers. In 1992 the Royal Irish Rangers became part of the Royal Irish Regiment, whichis the current regiment.
