Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby)
The Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) was formed in 1902 on the renaming of the Sherwood Foresters (Derbyshire Regiment) which had been formed in 1881. The Worcestershire Regiment came into being in 1881. In 1970 the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) merged with the Worcestershire Regiment to form the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters. In 2007 the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters amalgamated with the Cheshire Regiment and the Staffordshire Regiment to form the Mercian Regiment, which is the current regiment.
