The Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry was formed in 1959 on the amalgamation of the Somerset Light Infantry (Prince Albert's) and the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. In 1968 the Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry became part of the Light Infantry. In 2007 the Light Infantry became part of The Rifles, which is the current regiment.
