Prince Albert's (Somerset Light Infantry) was formed in 1881. In 1920 the regiment was retitled Somerset Light Infantry (Prince Albert's). In 1959 the Somerset Light Infantry amalgamated with the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry to form the Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry. In 1968 this became part of the Light Infantry. In 2007 the Light Infantry became part of The Rifles, which is the current regiment.
