South Lancashire Regiment
The South Lancashire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Volunteers) could trace its history back to the raising of Phillips' Regiment in 1717. It was originally affiliated with Somerset in 1782 but this changed to South Lancashire in 1881. In 1958 the South Lancashire Regiment and the East Lancashire Regiment were amalgamated to for the Lancashire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Volunteers). In 1970 the Lancashire Regiment amalgamated with the Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire) to form the Queen's Lancashire Regiment. This became part of the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment in 2006.
