Suffolk Regiment
The Suffolk Regiment came into being in 1881 on the renaming of the 12th (East Suffolk) Regiment. It could trace its origins back to the Duke of Norfolk's Regiment which was raised in 1685. In 1959 the Suffolk Regiment amalgamated with the Royal Norfolk Regiment to form the 1st East Anglian Regiment. In 1964 this became part of the Royal Anglian Regiment, which is the current regiment.
